Every franchise has a first.

The first player.

The first believer.

The first man willing to step through the door and help establish the standard for everyone who follows.

Joe Maxey is officially that guy for the Texas Wild Hogs.

And his journey to this moment is one built on resilience, family, perseverance, and a relentless love for the game.

Maxey’s pursuit of professional football included a private workout with the Green Bay Packers, where he worked out alongside NFL legend Alonzo Highsmith.

In 2020, he officially began his arena football career with the West Texas Warbirds.

In 2021, Maxey signed with the San Antonio Valor, playing under current Texas Wild Hogs Head Coach and Arena Football legend Brent Holmes. His performance helped establish him as a highly sought-after player in the arena football community.

His journey continued in 2022 with the Omaha Beef, playing under former NFL standout and College Football Hall of Famer Marvin Jones. Midway through the season, Maxey was traded to the Texas Jets in Houston, where he finished the season under Arena Football legend Ty Peace.

But football is only part of Joe Maxey’s story.

Following the 2022 season, Joe stepped away from arena football to focus on one of the most important roles of his life — being a full-time father and taking care of his family.

During his time away, he continued training, staying prepared, and building his personal training business, To The Max Training.

Then in 2025, the opportunity to return came with the Beaumont Renegades!!!

And now…

THE JOURNEY LEADS TO THE TEXAS WILD HOGS.

Joe Maxey isn’t just joining a football team.

He is becoming part of the foundation.

He is becoming part of the vision.

And most importantly, his name will forever be written in the history books as the FIRST PLAYER TO SIGN WITH THE TEXAS WILD HOGS.

Joe, welcome to the family!

Your journey brought you here.

Now it’s time to help us BRING A LEGACY TO REALITY!

BUILT ON FAITH. DRIVEN BY FAMILY. DEFINED BY FOOTBALL.
